What could have happened to you in high school that would have altered the course of your life?

642 Things to Write About

OK seriously I should try to do these blog posts mid-day instead of at the end. Originally, I wanted to have a full day to collect my thoughts about the inspiration but I find that I just end up forgetting to write something before midnight.

Anyways, this is an easy inspiration! There are a few easy items that probably would have changed anyone, e.g. university selection. I think the most profound decision was to change. At some point, conscious or unconscious, I made a decision to change from a sad mopey kid to somebody different. Different how? I can't really say because I am also uncertain but I know I felt different. It was like an Oprah moment when something clicks and you slowly transform from a toad into a beautiful princess, miraculous.

So how would things have turned out if I wasn't the beautiful princess I am today? Well for one thing, I probably wouldn't enjoy talking to people as much as I do today so a dream career in social media would probably be out of the question. I imagine myself in an alternate reality as a computer programmer, an unsuccessful one.

The Art of Community

The Art of Community just arrived via Canada Post.  It was unexpected because I only ordered it 3 days ago and the shipping time was 3-9 business days.  I thought it would arrive next week, kudos to Indigo!  The Art of Community by Jono Bacon comes highly recommended for any community manager.  So at 3am Tuesday morning I purchased it and thought myself pretty awesome.  I tend to make many impulse purchases after midnight, perhaps my mind is too weak to resist a good value proposition.

This is the second edition, the first is still freely available through a creative commons license but I thought I'd pay for paper.  Its like a textbook and I don't think I would enjoy the experience as much on my phone or computer!  Additionally, there are some expanded chapters and brand new content in the second edition.  The internet loves brand new and so do I.  Progress reports will follow so check back!

Interview me!

Before I refuse to take your questions, I have an opening statement.
- Ronald Reagan

Starting the hunt today!  I have a career path in mind so landing my first job should be no problem!  Where do you see yourself in five years?  I used to get confused with any question that asked about the future.  With clarity in my career path, I know the answer now.  In front of my screen engaging with customers all day everyday online -- that's where i'll be!

Now I just have to think hard on those other difficult questions that come up frequently during interviews.

next steps

Don't let yourself be paralyzed by fear, which prevents so many people from living out their dreams.

Last exam today!  As I post this (I realized I can schedule posts) I will be writing my last exam.  It's so cliche but after today everything and nothing will change.  I still have a few projects to complete but I feel like this whole month is a new beginning.  A time of great change.  Also, apparently I do believe I am the center of the universe.

So to change directions, what are you guys planning to do in the next month?  We should hangout.  I look forward to random google+ hangouts.

Closing out the day with a bang

Now I don't know if I'm lost
but this all just looks the same
I am pushing on the doors
between sorrow and fame.

Last day of classes of my undergrad career, long time coming as many of you know *chuckles* I wrote in my last post about the sense of anticipation I have - like in first year.  Listening to KO KO - Float and one line resonated with me, will you let me float away?
